About the owners

We moved to Colorado in 1974, fell in love with all it had to offer and made it our cherished home.  Here we raised our two children who are amazing young adults now.  Our home on 12 acres of trees and rolling meadows is nearby – just walking distance from the cabin.

We enjoy working together to conserve the land doing such things as planting trees, thinning, sowing grass, irrigating, fencing, and whatever comes up that it needs.  We see a lot of wildlife here, deer, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, bears, even the elk have grazed the upper meadow.  Many kinds of birds visit the winter feeders and it’s fun to see the fair season birds return every spring.  We always keep the binoculars handy so we can enjoy a closer look at their expressions and habits.

Skiing, hiking, gardening, raising our own beef, working on the property and enjoying our dog and cat keep life interesting.   Rollin is a self-employed consulting geologist and I, Robin work as an educator.  To our hobbies and work we add traveling both afar and near with all the variety that is in the Four Corners.

We purchased the cabin in 2010 from our friend George and his family. George and his wife Margaret erected their log cabin at the same time we built our house.  Margaret always said she liked to see the twinkle of our lights through the trees.  Since buying the cabin we kept the spirit of Margaret and George’s style and have had fun adding our touches in getting it ready to be a vacation rental.  We live just a short walk away and we are happy to have the opportunity to offer this comfortable vacation rental for your next get away into nature.

Our home is located in the community of Echo Basin by the entrance of the San Juan National Forest with the Echo Basin Loop Drive.  We so enjoy the La Plata Mountains whether it is from our living room or if we are out in them.
